ACCC ready to crack down on carbon rip-off merchants
29/06/2012 - The consumer watchdog wants people to dob in businesses that use Labor's controversial carbon tax to gouge customers on price.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) earlier this month launched a carbon price hotline and online claims form for people who fear they're being ripped off.
The commission doesn't want consumers being duped into accepting a price increase that's not appropriate or being led by false claims to buy products they otherwise wouldn't.
The ACCC has received 200 complaints so far about attempts to lift the price of beer, taxis, pizza and even a swimming pool.
People have been told the carbon tax will force up electricity prices many times over in an attempt to make them buy solar panels. Some have been encouraged to buy a house now to "beat the carbon tax".
Others still have been told their gym membership would go up, but if they bought additional years' coverage it wouldn't.
Most complaints have been resolved with warning letters, but four "intensive investigations" are under way.
The ACCC can ask businesses to substantiate their claims, write warning letters or issue infringement notices with fines of up to $66,000.
In extreme cases the watchdog can launch Federal Court proceedings with penalties of up to $1.1 million.
"(But) if small business are honest in their dealings with their customers they have nothing to fear from us," ACCC chairman Rod Sims said in mid-June when launching the complaints hotline.
The ACCC doesn't plan to ping business people who have a genuine belief in what they are saying - so long as they don't just parrot a political fear campaign in order to price gouge.
Small businesses have told been told they too have the right to "push back" on suppliers if they think they are being had.
Suspect price claims can be reported to the ACCC on 1300 303 609 or by visiting accc.gov.au/carbon

So instead of using the carbon tax as a reason to increase prices anyone with half a brain will use other reasons such as 'operational costs' to justify the increase. Everyone knows the ACCC is a toothless tiger

OH NO,,,,, the ACCC will come after me. YUK YUK YUK. Have they ever successfully prosecuted any real big business/man yet. And if I was a business/man, I dont think that getting hauled before the courts 3-5 years down the track when everything is half forgotten and some do good judge says "You've been a very naughty boy" and slaps a $1,000 fine on them. Wouldn't be a deterrent for me if I made an extra million or two. Hahahaha. The little train that could. That's the ACCC.

The Canberra Communists must think that we are as bloody stupid and moronic as they certainly are!

Big deal! Let us all quiver in our birthday suits! That mob of paper shuffling Wankers couldn't prosecute a Trouser Python!
If they are so sanctimoneous as to threaten all the ACTUAL productive Workers and Businesses, with all their hubris and huffing and puffing, surely it is inescapable that they look at their communist mates theiving oxygen ,who sit on the treasury benches!! This tax is a total SHAM, SKAM, and another of juliars LIES! What would Combet know about anything other than his fellow troglodytes from the labor party, who hide under rocks?? He has NEVER held down a worthwhile productive job in his life! BUT they want to send their version of the SS and Gestapo after the little guys who will hurt when this fraud comes in!! One has to but look briefly at their behaviour ???? to see what a mob of lying thugs standover bullies and complete SHONKS they are! Wake up guys, this bloody rip off will be cumulative at every stage it passes through! Australians wealthy and poor will hurt badly! Is it TOOOOOOOooo much to hope that they get the flick big time at the ballot box?
Carbon Dioxide is NOT a pollutant. It is essential for plant growth, and even controlling a number of our own genetic systems, even breathing! Yes, itr may absorb a tiny amount of inra red radiation, but shortly after, it must surely give that rise up, and regain equilibrium with the zillions of surrounding gas molecules! The SUN has a far greater effect, and is subject to many variables in its radiation output!
Pity these corrupt liars, claiming expertise, have their SNOUTS in the public money trough, where they can dispense more of their arrant nonsense and loads of bull shit!! They are certainly students of Dr. Goebells profound paper on Propaganda and lying to us, and JULIAR, we are YOUR employers! You do not lie and lead us astray, without getting what you deserve! That is fast approaching!
That night will be a fabulous VICTORY for COMMON SENSE , who abandoned them as a worthless lost cause! BOZOS! They haven't got a shred of it between them!EG:- Three long years of the comrades, waddling around, investigating if someone spent a fortune at whore houses paying with a credit card that was not his??? Give me a break!! Talk about a cover up, or was it a condom on?
