Abbot Point coal terminal may expand: Qld government
03/08/2012 - The Queensland government says it will consult with industry about how the Abbot Point coal terminal in north Queensland should be expanded.

Earlier this year, the state government scaled down the size of the project from six new terminals to two, saying the plans were "unrealistic".
Deputy Premier Jeff Seeney told parliament on Thursday he had appointed a facilitator to test the desire of coal companies for more facilities at Abbot Point.
"(We want) to ensure the vital coal terminal at Abbot Point can grow in a sensible, incremental way," Seeney said.
Environmentalists and the Australian Greens oppose the Abbot Point expansion and say it would lead to an unacceptable increase in shipping through the Great Barrier Reef.
