Clean In Place (CIP) are systems designed for the automatic cleaning and disinfection of process equipment, filters, pipes, and associated fittings - without major disassembly and assembly work. It helps to reduce production downtime, water usage, and sanitizer consumption, and also increases plant efficiency and operator safety. CIPs are extensively used in the beverage, dairy and food processing industries where stringent hygiene is a requirement...
CIPs eliminate organic residues like precipitated proteins, carbohydrates, fats and other contaminants that harbor bacteria and ultimately lead to bio-corrosion.
Different types of CIP systems exist - which are either manually operated or fully automated - each with their own specific features. CIPs can come with PLCs, multiple balance tanks, sensors, valves, data acquisition and specially designed spray nozzle systems. A well designed CIP system enables the cleaning of one part of the processing plant whilst other areas continue production. The cleaning process consists of several cycles in which rinsing material is recycled through the processing equipment in the flow system.
Suppliers offer a wide range of services from conceptual design, detailing, system provision - to the final commissioning of the proper integration of process and CIP operations.
