30/09/2011 - Coates Hire's recent deal with JLG Industries will see the addition of LiftPods broaden the range of equipment that Coates Hire provides for its customer base.
Coates Hire placed an order for the innovative FS80 LiftPods in June after scouring the market for low height access equipment.
"There is growing customer demand for powered low height access equipment that is portable," Robert Rossit, national product manager, said.
"Many of our customers on construction and building sites are moving away from using ladders and are seeking alternatives that offer greater safety because they want to minimise the risk of accident. So when we came across the LiftPods we were interested in exploring them in more detail."
The FS80 LiftPod is a powered, portable aerial work platform that allows users to work securely at heights of up to 4.5 metres.
Lightweight and mobile, the LiftPod can be transported by one person on the back of a utility vehicle. Its portability is due to its innovative and low weight design which combines a high-strength steel base with a lightweight aluminium mast and platform.
The platform incorporates an entrance gate and a railing system which allows the user to work with two hands for greater productivity. The FS80 model features a big work tray that is easy to use. The tray attaches to the basket and keeps tools and materials conveniently within reach of the user eliminating the need to make multiple trips up and down.
Operated using a 28 volt power pack or an 18 volt cordless drill, the FS80 LiftPod is fast, efficient and quiet.
"The FS80 LiftPod is a great product because it is safe to use, portable and easy to assemble. It helps managers improve their safety profile and it allows users to work safely at height. They don’t have to worry about balancing on a ladder and with two free hands they can get the job done quicker and easier," Rossit said.
"From our point of view they are also very cost-effective to buy and inexpensive to service because they require little maintenance. They are simply an excellent and very practical piece of equipment."
Branches in Brisbane have already received some of their LiftPods and the balance will be delivered by the end of September.
Coates Hire branches in Sydney are also scheduled to receive their shipment of LiftPods by the end of September.
