Company merger creates FLIR Commercial Systems
08/03/2010 - FLIR, the world leader in the design, manufacturing and marketing of infrared cameras, is to merge its Commercial Vision Systems and Thermography divisions to create FLIR Commercial Systems.
FLIR says the new division will continue to focus on the large potential for growth in commercial and industrial markets and will create value from commonality in distribution, customers and strategic infrared product development.
In Australia FLIR Commercial Systems will bring together a wider variety of thermography and imaging applications including:
- condition monitoring
- research and development
- manufacturing process control
- airborne observation and broadcast
- search and rescue
- drug interdiction
- surveillance and reconnaissance
- navigation safety
- border and maritime patrol
- environmental monitoring
- ground-based security.
FLIR has been a pioneer in the commercial infrared camera industry. The company has been supplying thermography and night vision equipment to science, industry, law enforcement and the military for over 50 years.
From counter terrorism, R&D, medical science, temperature measurement and thermal testing to law enforcement, surveillance, security and manufacturing process control, FLIR offers the widest selection of infrared cameras for beginners to professional thermographers and inspectors.
General Manager, FLIR Commercial Systems Australia, Roger Christiansz, said: "The merger is a natural fit. Both businesses have been focused on the enormous potential for commercially oriented thermal imaging systems.
"Both divisions have been focused on developing high volume markets for our cooled and uncooled technology. And both divisions have been driven by developing highly innovative products. Now we will combine the 'best of the best' to continue to provide FLIR products and services which will grow and lead the market," he said.
"From a very solid foundation we will take FLIR Commercial Systems to a new level of market penetration, product innovation and customer satisfaction," Mr Christiansz said.
