Downer awarded $73 million Fortescue trains contract

22/06/2012 - Engineering firm Downer EDI has won a $73 million contract to build locomotives for iron ore miner Fortescue Metals Group.

Downer will build 19 locomotives, with the first to be completed by August 2012, it said on Friday.

The company will also provide service and support for the trains for a minimum of five years under the terms of the contract.
