Downer wins $71.7m contract for BHP's Jimblebar mine

20/06/2012 - Engineering firm Downer EDI has won a $71.7 million contract to install power lines and substations at BHP Billiton's Jimblebar iron ore mine in Western Australia's Pilbara region.

Downer on Tuesday said the work would include the supply and installation of electrical power and control components for two new substations.
 
It also would modify existing substations and transmission lines, upgrade the network control system, and install a new transmission line between Newman and the Jimblebar mine, the company said in a statement.
