2nd Annual Optimising Productivity in Drilling & BlastingDuxton Hotel in Perth, Australia 20 - 21 Oct 2008 Drilling and blasting generally are recognised at the most cost-efficient ways to crush rock. However, efforts to contain costs and increase production, to meet tighter aggregate specifications, to reduce production of both fines and oversize, and to appease quarry neighbours adds complexity to drilling and blasting operations. These rapidly evolving technologies are also offering mining companies important new capabilities in terms of safer, more accurate and more efficient processes, which ultimately leads to improved production and reduced costs. It is critical, therefore, that mine managers, supervisors and blasting professionals keep up to speed with technological advancements in drilling techniques and technology, types of explosives, blast design, measuring and monitoring of blasts, risk awareness and blasting regulations. Drilling and blasting being the main activities in the mining and construction industries, they will always be major concerns for the relevant professionals in this sector to be updated with the latest development, improvement and the latest technology in explosives (or non-explosives) and blasting technology. Therefore, the aim of this conference is to examine the new and innovative blasting technology - towards improving the productivity and profitability at all types of mines. Key topics:
