Mergon Automotives is exclusively involved with plastic technology for the automotive industry, from initial design through to the manufacture. They currently produce air ducts and intake systems, windshield washer systems, reservoir bottles and expansion tanks, fuel filler pipes, load carrier and trim parts, seating applications, spoilers and small off-road engine fuel tanks.
The GEC-7460 dual-head blow moulding machine is fitted with a 150mm smooth bore extruder with a 300 HP AC drive, dual 9kg series heads, XMB Navigator controls and a 1900 x 1550mm platen with 190 tonnes of clamping force, Special features include a 3.65m stroke part takeout mechanism, as well as a remote operator station on wheels.
A key factor in the selection of the GEC range of blow moulders was the accumulator head machine, which provide fast colour changeover. Material change capabilities and a patented servo hydraulic actuated press with an independent platen movement and position control allow for easy mould set ups and greater flexibility.
"We are very happy to add another Graham machine," said Pat Bernie, CEO of the Mergon Group. "We continue to utilise them because of their quality and the innovative and technical advantages in their machines and head design. When we buy a machine from Graham, we are confident that it will start up quickly and run well."
GEC is represented by HBM Plastics Technologies in Oceania.
