8/07/2008 - The Safe Grip Anti Slip Strips and Non Skid Coatings have provided a sustainable solution for this large paper manufacturing firm. While the initial call was related to slip resistance remedial treatment of stair nosing and other slippery surfaces, the team on site was asked whether they could provide a solution to the manufacturer on their forklift grabbing attachments.
These attachments lift large paper rolls weighing up to two tons. The rolls are covered with plastic and were slipping out of the attachment, not only slowing down production and lifting labour costs but creating a safety issue as well.
The Global Safe team after assessing the situation has rectified the issue. The smooth metal surface was prepared and up to 4 mm thick layer of Safe Grip strips were applied over the surface.
As the manufacturer took up the free risk management program, called FSMP© Global Safe Technologies is doing the regular inspections of the surfaces. During the latest inspection the safety rep has spoken to the forklift drivers, their supervisor and also to the maintenance manager about the forklifts. Since the installation of the strips there was not a single issue and the manager was surprised how well the product bonded to the metal and how effectively provides slip resistance in that very busy environment.
The management is also very satisfied with the result as it has vastly improved the safety as well as productivity and employee satisfaction.
