A leading logistics company has done just this, with careful planning and know how provided by Metalsistem Australia, along with it's Melbourne based dealer Bowen Storage Systems.
The logistics company rapid expansion with the distribution of fashion garments and shoes, they needed to squeeze more space out of it's large Melbourne distribution centre. Unable to stop the day to day processes, they choose a two tiered mezzanine system. The system needed to intergrate with existing long span shelving units with minimal disruption to the companys daily activities.
Bowen Storage Systems were successful in meeting all the supply and installation requirements set out as per contract, for this leading logistics distribution company to design and install a 1700 square metre raised storage area.
This type of structure can be achieved by using the Super 6 series, ideal for all raised storage areas. The Super 6 has been designed to enable a second tier flooring structure to easily integrate with existing shelving installations in which this new installation consisted of approximately 500 bays of the Super 123 shelving on top of a plywood floor. The Super 123 is ideal due to it's lightness and strength for all light to medium duty storage needs. This installation also included a conveyor system with a powered incline belt for speedy transfer of goods to and from the raised storage area.
The unique advantage of the using Metalsistem Super 6 system compared to other systems was that it allowed for the whole floor to be built over existing shelving with minimal disruptions to the clients daily operations. Metalsistem were able to provide a more economical option than would have normally been available in the market place. As all of Metalsistems series offer rapid assembly, the entire installation was completed well within the expected time frame. The client was totally satisified with all aspects from design to installation.
In order to achieve the required high load specification in mezzanine structures, Metalsistems engineers designed the frames upright sections with a closed box section profile. The box is considered to be a safer option with enhanced integrity and ability to sustain higher loads.
