Green-tape cuts listed as 'priority' for parliament agenda

10/08/2012 - Plans to cut "green tape" should be realised by the end of the year, with the federal government listing the laws as a priority for parliament.

The planned Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Amendment Bill will streamline individual project assessments and give greater accreditation to state environmental assessments.

Its introduction comes after the Council of Australian Governments endorsed in April a proposal to streamline the way major projects are assessed for their environmental impact.

The federal government released on Thursday a list of legislation it hopes to pass during the spring sittings which will run intermittently from next week to November.
