Holden recalls imported cars over potential brake fault

28/08/2012 - Holden has recalled more than 50,000 imported cars over a potential brake fault.

The company said the recall covered four models: the Barina, Viva, Epica and Captiva — which were all built in Korea between 2007 and 2010.

The recall notice said a condition had been identified where, in some instances, the cars may experience a reduced brake performance or spongy or low brake pedal.

The condition was associated with a sticky valve in the electronic brake control module (EBCM).

Holden said owners would be contacted to arrange a free inspection, brake fluid flush and a replacement EBCM if necessary.

The company said the problem had been identified in Korea and it was not aware of any instances of the condition occurring in Australia.
