Macnaught inks Dick Johnson Racing V8 Supercar deal

LUBRICATION AND fluid management specialist Macnaught is going V8 Supercar racing this year with the Dick Johnson team.

The partnership began in a low-key way last year – Dick Johnson Racing used Macnaught equipment extensively in the workshop and at race meetings – and now the team’s two Falcons feature Macnaught’s well-known logo on their side mirrors.

Macnaught signage will also be on DJR’s transporters as well as inside the team’s pitlane garage throughout the 2008 V8 Supercar Championship.

Naturally, Macnaught will continue to be DJR’s official provider of lubrication equipment, M-Series flow meters, and Retracta water and air hose reels.

Macnaught CEO Peter Macnaught said that he was proud to be associated with a motor racing team that has much in common with his own organisation.

“Macnaught and DJR are both proudly Australian, with long and successful histories in their respective fields,” he said.

“This year we’re celebrating our 60th anniversary, making us Australia’s longest-established lubrication equipment supplier, while DJR is one of the country’s longest-established teams, with countless race wins and titles over the past 40 years.

“A partnership between us just seemed a natural and logical fit.”

Mr Macnaught said he looked forward to growing the relationship with DJR, as it had done for the past 12 months, and wished the team every success on the track in 2008.

Dick Johnson said he was pleased to confirm the team’s ongoing partnership with Macnaught, and was looking forward to a long-term association with the Australian-based manufacturer.

“Our partnership with Macnaught began last year, and I’m pleased to welcome them on board with the team again in 2008”, he said.

“The team uses Macnaught products, both at the racetrack and at our workshop complex.

“Their products play an important part in the daily activities of the team, and we look forward to continuing the relationship with them for a long time to come,” Johnson concluded.

The Macnaught-Dick Johnson Racing partnership is off to a flying start in the 14-round 2008 V8 Supercar Championship with Will Davison’s second round victory at Sydney’s Eastern Creek Raceway on March 8-9.

The win vaulted DJR into third place on the teams table, and Davison into fifth place in the drivers’ championship.

DJR’s second driver, Steven Johnson, currently sits 11th on the drivers’ table, but he’s looking to join his team-mate at the pointy end of the field at the next round in Hamilton, New Zealand, on April 19-20.
