Multi-deck truck scales provide axle weights for Qld rail

Supplied by Ultrahawke in Melbourne, the multi-deck truck scales comprises four individual weighing decks to allow axle group weights of vehicles to be attained in a single weighing transaction.

To eliminate the need for a full time truck scales operator, an unattended weighing terminal was commissioned; allowing drivers to initiate and complete vehicle weighing transactions with minimal training.

Surprisingly, many overloading fines are not caused by vehicle overloading but incurred for exceeding individual axle group loads. It's entirely possible for a vehicle to be booked for overloading while carrying less than the maximum permitted load. 

Ultrahawke's multi-deck truck scales has individual deck lengths suiting the axle spacing of all common truck/trailer configurations to allow vehicles up to and including B-doubles to be weighed in a single weighing transaction. As well as displaying the gross vehicle mass, multi-deck truck scales also display the gross weight of each individual axle group for easy identification of overloaded axles.
