650 tonnes of glass were recycled in Sydney and Melbourne

21/02/2008 - BottleCycler recycled 650 tonnes in just one quarter from venues in Sydney and Melbourne who "Do the Right Thing" and use the BottleCycler service.

Environmental Benefits of using cullet (crushed glass produced by BottleCycler) to produce new glass:

  • Reduces the demand on natural resources

Each tonne of crushed glass used in the manufacture of new glass saves 1.1 tonnes of raw materials

  • Reduced emissions created in the production process as less processing is invovled

Recycling glass saves 64% of the energy used to make new glass

  • Less to landfill

At least 80% of waste glass collected by BottleCycler is used in the manufacture of new glass
