22/02/2008 - Systec Electronic have released the ECUcore-5484, an insert ready single board computer based on the Freescale MCF5484 MCU.

Focusing on applications that require a high degree of embedded computing power the ECUcore-5484 compines a fast CPU, a high-performance memory layout and a variety of communication interfaces. It targets applications that require high-speed data acquisition and real-time communication, such as Ethernet POWERLINK.

Some of the touted features of the board include, a Freescale MCF5484 MCU with Coldfire V4e core running at 200 MHz, up to 128 MB 32-bit DDR-SDRAM and 64 MB Flash, 2 Fast Ethernet controllers, 4 UARTs, 2 CAN ports, USB device support, SPI, I²C.

Measuring a compact 70 x 40mm, the unit is designed for intelligent communication gateways and Ethernet POWERLINK applications. Operating system support includes Linux, eCos and µcLinux.

Also available in the ECUcore range are boards based on the Freescale MCF5208, Cirrus Logic ARM920T and Infineon Tricore TC1130.
