Crane IQWrench Opta
Provided by:Applied Measurement 4/08/2008 - The IQWrench Opta is the latest product from Crane Electronics Ltd to offer some of the most advanced measurement technology, storage and SPC capabilities. All of this has been packaged in an ergonomic wrench which has been designed to maximise the comfort of the operator. The wrenches are a lot lighter than may be anticipated from a wrench with such comprehensive capabilities. The smaller wrenches weigh below 1kg. The larger wrenches are about twice this weight. The physical sizes are also worth mentioning e.g. a 10Nm IQWrench Opta is only 300mm long. The IQWrench Opta is a natural choice for working in confined spaces. The operator does not have to worry how he holds the wrench. It is point of load insensitive ensuring precise measurement independent of how the wrench is held. Visual indications are multi-coloured LEDs on both the front and back of the wrench. A real time graph on the display gives a clear indication of the tightening process e.g. target torque, lower and upper torque specification, alternatively torque or angle. In situations where the operator cannot look at the wrench, he can choose between a vibrating handle and acoustic signals to indicate the tightening status. A heavy-duty cradle serves as a dedicated storage space for the wrench and can be mounted vertically and horizontally. The cradle combines three functions: recharging of the batteries, programming the tool and downloading readings to a PC.
