It's the second of three tender rounds to be held in 2009/10, worth $270 million in total.
Water Minister Penny Wong said the buyback scheme was correcting decades of mismanagement of the basin, compounded by extended drought and the effects of climate change.
"For too long we have taken too much water out of the Murray Darling Basin," Senator Wong said on Friday.
"Now the Rudd government is putting water back, to restore the health of the rivers."
The new tender round opens on Tuesday and closes on March 29.
Offers will be accepted from the Murray, Murrumbidgee and Lower Darling catchments in NSW, the Murray, Goulburn, Campaspe and Loddon catchments in Victoria, and the South Australian portion of the Murray-Darling Basin.
Under the scheme, 797 billion litres of water entitlements worth $1.3 billion have been secured, not including entitlements from the January tender, which attracted "considerable interest", Senator Wong said.
The third tender is expected to start in late April or early May.
