Five winners of AMTIL advanced manufacturing awards

13/10/2008 - Five companies and individuals were last week recognized for their excellence and took home honors at the AMTIL Advanced Manufacturing Awards™ Gala Dinner.

Western Australia based Austal took home the Advanced Manufacturer of The Year award. Austal is a world leading manufacturer of high speed passenger and vehicle-passenger ferries, cruise vessels and a range of patrol, fast freight and offshore support vessels.

Victorian Aerospace and Defence component Manufacturer, Production Parts Pty Ltd was recognised as Australia's Advanced Manufacturing Exporter of the Year. FlexiCut Engineering Pty Ltd Managing Director, Mr Robbie O'Brien, was awarded the Advanced Manufacturing Young Ambassador of the Year.

Queensland company Advanced Robotic Technologies won the Advanced Manufacturing Innovator of the Year award for their new SMART Plasma profiling machines.

Based in New South Wales, Mr Sheldon Vaughan was the recipient of the Advanced Manufacturing Designer of the Year award, proudly sponsored by Betta Machine Tools.

These coveted annual awards draw entries from across the country and are aimed at highlighting Australian manufacturing innovation and excellence.

Production Parts' Managing Director, Peter Nicholls stated, "We are pleased to have been recognized for this prestigious Award. The Australian manufacturing industry is alive and well and we appreciate the recognition and support we have received from AMTIL."

"We have been fortunate over recent years to be able to grow our Company. We have invested heavily in our people and our infrastructure. We're very excited to have this acknowledged and to be a part of the AMTIL Awards." Nicholls said

Robbie O'Brien stated, "The past year and a half has been a whirlwind, starting my own business and investing in machines and the company infrastructure. This award gives me a lot of satisfaction and I am very grateful to receive it."

The AMTIL Advanced Manufacturing Awards™ Gala Dinner was held on 2nd October and attracted over 350 people at the Grand Ballroom of the Hilton Hotel in Melbourne.
