9/10/2008 - Uranium and base metals exploration minnow Nimrodel Resources Ltd says its operations in Kyrgyzstan are unaffected after a powerful earthquake hit the central Asia nation on Sunday, killing at least 74 people.

The earthquake occurred in the Alaisky district of south-eastern Kyrgyzstan, centred on Nura, a village of about 960 people on the border with China.

The Sydney-headquartered company said Nura was more than 350km from the area in which it was undertaking exploration drilling.

"Nimrodel's Kyrgyz management team have confirmed that the current drilling operations in their Batken exploration licences have been unaffected and are continuing normally," it said.

"Assistance is being offered by Nimrodel to support the earthquake victims in their time of need."
