8/03/2005 - (Sydney, Australia) – ASC has recently signed an agreement to upgrade to CONTROL:2005™, the latest version of Cincom’s Web-based Enterprise Management solution.

(Sydney, Australia) – ASC has recently signed an agreement to upgrade to CONTROL:2005™, the latest version of Cincom’s Web-based Enterprise Management solution.

The agreement will be for 700 users and will include the core modules of CONTROL:2005 plus the Program Management and Finance Management modules.

CONTROL:2005 is an event-enabled environment through Cincom’s Environ™, which drives business processes across multiple systems of record, supporting a company’s enterprise performance management strategy.

The Environ solution leverages Microsoft BizTalk Server, along with Microsoft Windows 2003 and SQL Server 2000 to facilitate new levels in system interoperability, improved scalability, and end-to-end support.

Jon Moore, ASC’s Group Business and Information Systems Manager, said the upgrade would allow the company to leverage current investment giving ASC up-to-date technology and access to future developments.

“Our staff will have access to common applications throughout the entire ASC group, which will ensure consistency of data and a more efficient and cost-effective operation,” he said.

“With this upgrade, it will remove the dependency on existing disparate systems and will allow us to integrate any remaining legacy systems through Environ.”

ASC is moving into the Through-Life Support phase of its submarine business, with responsibility for the ongoing maintenance, upgrades and design enhancements of the Collins Class submarines.  The company has recently submitted a bid for the high-profile Air Warfare Destroyer (AWD) contract, with a winner expected to be announced in March.  Should ASC be successful, the project will be managed by the newly formed shipbuilding subsidiary of its business – ASC Shipbuilding.

According to Jon Moore, CONTROL:2005 will act as the foundation for ASC Shipbuilding during the build phase of the AWDs then followed by the Through-Life Support phase.

Paul Hargreaves, Managing Director of Cincom Australia and New Zealand, said Cincom was extremely proud of its relationship with ASC, who have been a client since 1987.

“We are committed to providing high value, low cost solutions to ASC to improve its business and ensure they are in the best position to bid for other contracts with the Australian Defence Force,” said Hargreaves.

“Our relationship with ASC is reflective of Cincom’s dedication to providing world-class solutions for organisations within the defence industry.”

About ASC
Now wholly-owned by the Australian Government, ASC was established in 1985 and was subsequently chosen in 1987 as the prime contractor for the design, manufacture and delivery of the Royal Australian Navy’s fleet of six Collins Class submarines

The contract between the Australian Government and ASC represented the largest defence contract ever signed in Australia at the time. The Collins Class submarines are a key element of Australia’s Defence Force, both as an intelligence-gathering platform during peace time and as a forceful opponent during times of war.

Led by a dedicated team of senior executives, ASC has shifted focus in recent years from a world-class builder of submarines to a provider of design and maintenance services for the Collins Class and shipbuilder for the Navy’s future naval combatant projects.
