20/11/2008 - Engineering services provider Norfolk Group Ltd is among three companies named as the preferred proponent of a $1 billion rail project by the NSW government.

The RailCorp Program Alliance (RPA) will consist of Norfolk Group subsidiary O'Donnell Griffin, developer Laing O'Rourke and consultants Connell Wagner.

The RPA will deliver signalling, electrical and track projects over five years from December, with the option of a five-year extension, Norfolk Group said.

Construction should begin in April 2009, it said.

O'Donnell Griffin's component of the five-year contract is estimated to be worth up to $400 million, Norfolk Group said.

The company has previously won contracts for rail projects in Newcastle and Revesby in NSW, and also in Victoria.

The RPA will also assist RailCorp with business transformation as it returns to the direct control of the NSW government.
