Australian UGS reseller Edge Software Makes First Velocity Series Sale
Australian & New Zealand UGS reseller Edge Software has made the first sale of UGS Velocity Series to defence contractor, Seal Solutions Pty Ltd.
The sale includes UGS products Solid Edge (CAD), Femap (CAE) with Nastran and Teamcenter Express (cPDM).
Seal Solutions will use UGS Velocity Series to manage its design and modification projects with various Defence bodies including a project it is undertaking for the Australian government for the supply of Landrover 110 vehicle safety improvement modifications. This project aims to significantly improve the safety of the Australian Regional Force Surveillance vehicle fleet.
Seal Solutions Engineering Manager, Ben Hudson said his company was committed to providing the highest quality engineering and logistics design, manufacture and logistics engineering services, utilising ‘world’s best practices’ and the latest technology.
Mr Hudson said; ‘When we went looking for a full and integrated PLM system we knew our biggest challenge was to find a solution that fitted our company size 60 staff, our budget, our time frame implemented in 6 weeks and our in-house IT skills. When we discovered the UGS Velocity Series it seemed to have been conceived and develop for us in mind. We evaluated the products and the speed that they could be implemented and decided it was the right path for us take now, we wanted to be live before Christmas, and given the speed of deployment to date we certainly will be. One additional bonus is the scalability of this solution where we can seamlessly grow into full Teamcenter Engineering when and if we need to; this and the multi cad nature of Teamcenter Express means we can electronically collaborate with our suppliers and customers who may use different 3D CAD systems. We were using Solid Works for 3D CAD and will continue to use this as part of our engineering design environment, but with the introduction of the Velocity Series we see our future expansion will be with Solid Edge & UGS NX for digital design’
Announcing the sale, Edge Software managing director, Barry Bevis said the landmark sale which will be live before Christmas is proof that PLM is ready for the mid and small manufacturing companies in Australia and New Zealand.
PLM has had spectacular results, efficiency gains and costs saving for large corporates, making it even harder for the smaller manufactures to compete, this same technology in a pre configures and affordable format is now ready for small and medium sized manufactures and should significantly level the playing field for all sized companies.
