ProSoft Technology’s RadioLinx wireless product line has expanded to cover a broad array of application scenarios. These products range from 900 MHz to 2.4 GHz bands, frequency hopping or 802.11 Industrial HotspotTM, and both serial and Ethernet interfaces.
The new feature rich RadioLinx products are secure, powerful, and scalable solutions which fall into two primary categories: Industrial Broadband and Industrial Frequency Hopping.
Industrial Broadband
The new Industrial Broadband radios are equipped with Orthogonal OFDM modulation for excellent noise immunity at highest possible speeds. For security, they offer WPA2 (802.11i) with AES-CCM encryption, Mac ID Filtering and an option to hide the Service Set Identifier (SSID) for your wireless network. The radios offer RF-based Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP) querying, which allows multicast filtering at the wireless level. The newest offerings in this category are:
- 802.11abg Industrial Hotspot (RLXIB-IHW): Wireless access point, repeater, or client and designed for global installations. Offers Power over Ethernet (PoE), serial encapsulation, high speed wireless Ethernet communications to support Ethernet I/O, video cameras, and plant network access for mobile workers. Offers dual frequency bands (2.4 GHz or 5 GHz)
- 802.11abg Industrial Hotspot Client (RLXIB-IESC): A client only version of the RLXIB-IHW.
- 802.11abg Water- and Dust-Tight Industrial Hotspot
(RLX-IHW-66): Radio features identical to the Industrial Hotspot, with an IP66-rated water- and dust-tight enclosure. Can be mounted in wash down areas, offshore oil rigs, and outdoor towers.
Industrial Frequency Hopping
The Industrial Frequency Hopping radios are well suited for SCADA applications and are equipped with up to a full one watt of power. They all offer 128 bit AES encryption, advanced network wide diagnostics and ControlScape Configuration and Diagnostic Software.
The Ethernet radios offer best-in-class speed of 1.1Mbps to support large networks and industrial Ethernet, and are able to pull data from serial devices and send to a client via wireless Ethernet.
The serial radios can communicate with Modbus, DF1, or ASCII devices. They support RF data rates of 230 kbps or 19.2 kbps to support difficult RF paths with best-in-class radio receiver performance (-116 dBm).

- 900 MHz Industrial Frequency Hopping Ethernet: Well-suited for high speed, long range Ethernet communications. (RLX-IFH9E)
- 900 MHz Industrial Frequency Hopping Serial: Perfect for SCADA applications and shorter polling times. (RLX-IFH9S)
- 2.4 GHz Industrial Frequency Hopping Ethernet: Well-suited for high speed, long range Ethernet communications. Use in countries where 900 MHz is not allowed or when 2.4 GHz operation is preferred / required. (RLX-IFH24E)
- 2.4 GHz Industrial Frequency Hopping Serial: Perfect for SCADA applications and shorter polling times. Use in countries where 900 MHz is not allowed or when 2.4 GHz operation is preferred / required. (RLX-IFH24S)
All RadioLinx products are license free and CSA UL1604 Class 1, Div 2 approved for hazardous environments. For onsite diagnostics, all RadioLinx radios can be used with ProSoft Technology’s RadioLinx OPC Server (RLX-OPC-SRV). The RLX-OPC-SRV allows OPC Clients such as HMIs to view vital radio statistics from a combination of one or more Industrial Broadband and/or Frequency Hopping radios. The OPC server allows seamless access to signal strength, serial number and throughput statistics. Each radio comes with a three year warranty and unlimited technical support.
