SYSPRO Unveils Inventory Forecasting for ManufacturersProvided by:SYSPRO Software 18/03/2005 - SYDNEY, Australia – 1 March, 2005 – SYSPRO, a leading enterprise software vendor for manufacturers and distributors, has announced a new Forecasting module, the first of three modules that will make-up the soon-to-be-released SYSPRO Inventory Optimisation Solution. The SYSPRO Inventory Optimisation solution will allow companies to gain additional profits from their inventories by efficiently predicting demand. The solution finds the optimal balance between being overstocked and inefficiently using the manufacturer‘s resources – to being understocked and losing orders due to lack of supply. Inventory Optimisation is an integral part of efficient resource management and enables enhanced levels of customer service. Inventory Optimisation is also fundamental to implementing the demand-driven, lean manufacturing model. The new Forecasting module provides inventory controllers, product managers, sales and marketing with an easy-to-use interface from which to perform sales forecasting. The Forecasting module analyses trends, seasonal or cyclic patterns that may occur in their industry and performs forecasting at the item and warehouse level by using a variety of forecasting algorithms. It is completely integrated with SYSPRO Enterprise Resource Planning modules. The Forecasting module can take into account seasonality and provides the ability to define calendars, forecast horizons, monthly or weekly time buckets and to override forecasts to accommodate market intelligence. The module stores three or more years of history and facilitates dynamic analyses with tabular and graphical reports. According to Shaun Butler, SYSPRO Asia Pacific’s general manager, “This new Forecasting module is a powerful, competitive tool for small and medium-size companies that operate in markets dominated by much larger firms. It helps enterprises reduce the overhead costs associated with maintaining inappropriate inventory levels.” “The new modules are designed to allow the customers themselves to determine their own business strategies and not rely intensively on consultants,” he added. The Inventory Optimisation application suite comprises Forecasting, Families and Groupings, and Inventory Optimizer modules. The remaining two modules are expected to be released later this year. The suite delivers new functionality in a manner that is a complementary and integral part of the core SYSPRO system. Designed to enhance Designed to enhance the use of manufacturing resource planning (MRP) and advanced planning and scheduling (APS), the forthcoming Inventory Optimisation solution will enable manufacturers to leverage manufacturing data already available in a system.
