17/11/2008 - The strategic acquisition of CompAir by Gardner Denver (New York stock exchange listed) will shake up the Australian market, with CompAir locally gaining access to a significantly enhanced product range to complement the company’s leading range of compressors and aftermarket services.

Leading compressed air and gas system manufacturer CompAir is now closing in on the top two in its global industry market, becoming part of the US based Gardner Denver Group.

The strategic acquisition of CompAir by Gardner Denver (New York stock exchange listed) will shake up the Australian market, with CompAir locally gaining access to a significantly enhanced product range to complement the company’s leading range of compressors and aftermarket services.

Managing Director Gary Woodhead said the news has been positively received by CompAir employees and customers.

While CompAir already has a major presence in the Australian market, the addition of Gardner Denver as our parent will provide another platform for growth for the industries and customers we serve.

He said the sheer scale of Gardner Denver would enable CompAir to boost its competitiveness on the Australasian market and provide enhanced service to clients

Mr Woodhead said CompAir’s strong financial performance, it’s geographical spread and access to its unique Quantima compressor technology had prompted the Gardner Denver interest in the company.

Quantima’s revolutionary compression assembly has only one moving part spinning in a magnetic field, providing reduced energy consumption and improved environmental performance. It is more compact and quieter than comparable compressors, and provides variable speed operations without a gearbox or oil.

“Quantima technology is the most innovative leap in compressor technology for the past 50 years.,” Mr Woodhead said.

“By blending the complementary product lines and geographical reach of CompAir and Gardner Denver, the combined business is now well positioned to take advantage of future growth opportunities for its products, services, and people.

“We are extremely excited about the opportunities created by the integration of CompAir with Gardner Denver's existing compressor and blower operations. The combined businesses will significantly enhance our resources and channels of distribution to serve existing and new customers.

“CompAir has achieved significant success through innovative product development and operational improvements, which has provided a solid platform for growth.
“Becoming part of the international Gardner Denver Group now represents a major opportunity for us to continue our growth and it will bring important value-adding benefits for our clients.”

Mr Woodhead said there would be greater opportunities to grow the business through joint enterprise techniques and to capture integration synergies, and customers would benefit from a greater product range and economies of scale.
