Supercheap Auto & Gamma Solutions - Upgrading 240 stores in 6 weeks? No worries!
Provided by:Gamma Solutions Pty Ltd 15/07/2008 - Gamma sets up a system upgrade... 240 stores in 6 weeks! When leading retail group Supercheap Auto was looking to replace its existing PDTs (Portable Collection Data Terminals) they needed a solution with multiple functionality to take their business into the future. And they wanted it done fast. They needed a vendor with the ability to service and supply 240 plus stores across Australia and New Zealand, whether it be inner city or remote regional. And the in-store systems had to be changed from Darwin to Mount Isa to Melbourne, all within six weeks. Supercheap chose the Intermec CN3 because of its rugged reliability, ease of use, and ability to cope with existing and future applications. Jim Tarlinton, Supercheap's Inventory Optimisation Manager, explained that Gamma won the tender because of the existing relationship with distribution centres.Gamma had provided hardware to warehouse operations and had longstanding working relationships in place. 'The fact Gamma could supply and service Australia wide as well as in New Zealand was a major selling point,'Jim said. And the six week deadline? Yes, we met that too.Our engineers worked frantically within this timeframe to deliver to each store, Australia wide, an Intermec CN3 mobile computer and accessories. It was a team effort between Gamma and Supercheap staff, and our service engineers certainly racked up plenty of frequent flyer points travelling all over Australia and New Zealand. One of the big advantages of the Intermec CN3 unit is that it can be upgraded via a central point. Supercheap can roll out new functions and applications to individual stores without the unit leaving the store. The device has multiple functionality from receipting and scanning orders as they come in to store,to product inquiries of stock in store.A recent addition to functionality is ticket printing and stock adjustments. Supercheap Auto has a tailored maintenance program managed by Julie Bibby,Gamma Solutions Contracts Administrator. 'Supercheap Auto's maintenance program allows for an Intermec CN3 unit in the Supercheap spare pool to be sent to any site within Australia and NZ within a specified period of time, which reduces any downtime a store may experience', explained Julie. A great product and great service. For more information on maintenance programs, call Julie Bibby on 13000 GAMMA, or email julie.bibby@gammasolutions.com News Articles
