PM "has to be kidding" on electricity costs, Baillieu says
08/08/2012 - Prime Minister Julia Gillard must be joking when she blames the states for rising electricity costs, Victorian Premier Ted Baillieu says.

Gillard has attacked the states over escalating power costs, saying they must find solutions by the end of the year or face market watchdogs with greater powers.
Baillieu said he was staggered at the last Council of Australian Governments meeting when some of the Labor premiers said construction costs were not an issue.
"In the very next breath they started complaining about the cost of building new poles and wires for the electricity market," he told reporters on Tuesday.
"Seriously, Julia Gillard has got to be kidding.
"If the commonwealth were genuinely concerned about electricity bills increasing they'd do something about the impact of the carbon tax."
Baillieu said Victoria had led the way on energy market reform, starting with the Kennett coalition government in the 1990s.
"That has been continued, so 99 per cent of what she had to say has no application in Victoria," he said.
Gillard said all states and territories should sign up to the National Energy Customer Framework.
The framework, which currently only covers Tasmania and the ACT, requires fair contracts and better information in bills, as well as payment plans for those who struggle to pay bills on time.
Energy and Resources Minister Michael O'Brien said Victorians had traditionally got a better deal on energy prices because of the state's relatively cheap brown coal-fired electricity.
He also said because Victoria had privatised energy provision he could argue for the lowest possible price for consumers without a conflict of interest.

This woman is delusional as well as a liar.
First she tells voters there will be NO carbon dioxide tax, then introduces it for the sole purpose of pushing electricity prices higher so we won't use that naughty coal, plus the unsustainable renewable enery costs
all designed to push up the cost of power plus all increases of power is approved by Federal authorities
Ms Gillard is delusional, dishonest and a complete dribbler
Just call an election

It's interesting that after the recent January tariff review VIC network charges increased upto 25% this was ofcourse in addition to Federal increases for sustainable programs in addition to the new VEET state structure. Some C&I large market customers had bill increases of $60K+ without the carbon pass through. Blame needs to be shared evenly here and both state and federal governments need to realise that only 40-45% of customers bills are related to the energy they actually use now. This in my mind is an unfair split to the consumer and highlights where the blame really lies.

Oh My Gods and By Jove! Finally! A semblance of True Leadership! Perhaps, a wee little prickling of what she’s supposed to Aussie battler stand for and defend? Alleluia! Alleluia! Brothers & Sisters! Too bad it’ll cynically, frigidly arouse to nothing much, when an ungracious heart’s not really in it? And you’ve those frightfully squabbling, exploiting, rip off, cheating, self gratifying, infesting low life State Demons, that never mount to any good to contend with. That only an armed St. George could spearing contend with! Ah!, if only a blessed Australian Miracle could stop their gross, sinful endemic waste, abuse of power, duplication and snorting inefficiency and political evil that ominously clouds our days, thunders our worried nights, condemns and oppresses us? Since blessed Mary MacKillop a long time ago, I pray we should be due for another deliverance one at any time now! Amen! As always, Cheers Furbo!

Thanks John! I'm happy to hear you appreciate my desire for truth & Furbo insight. Cause these pollies think we’ve no idea of the electricity rip off charges they’ve unfairly heaped on us and who’s bleeding off the exorbitant pricing. Habitual, similar rorting and price gouging is also occurring with water, gas and other basic necessities. That’s what happens when self centred premiers only have to contend with weak obliging leaders? Considering “she” controls the dubious legislation & approving Regulators! Now pretends, too little too late! Juliar, that’s why voters have abandoned you my dear! If we had confidence that governments, bureaucracies and pricing Regulators were working effectively in our best interest. There’d be no need to ask such critical fundamental questions, nor air such dire criticisms, nor this devious premier’s b*tching spat! Indeed, if there’d been any doubt about over charging, fairness & propriety? She could’ve used her abundant power & influence, to quietly, promptly fix any problems or overcharging rip-offs. Otherwise, what does she suspect she’s their for? Just G20 gloating, multi hundred thousand dollar rorts & perky overabundance? But we know hers are only Crocodile Juliar tears! So don’t expect due proper relief cuts anytime soon! Nor when the confusing, negative Abbott comes in to shepherd this overly pre-flogged & battered flock! I’ve supposedly prayed for an Aussie miracle to get fairness & justice in this and other excessive Government rip-offs. But if our sinful nation is no longer deserving of grace, lets look at the disturbing facts and shed knowledgeable lumens on their desperate grab. To start with, for every electricity dollar charged: Only 6.7 cents is for Green Alternatives & Only 7.6 Cents is for the much hyped current Carbon Tax. 10.4 cents is for retailing. A chunky 25 Cents for energy generation. And incredibly, an obscenely massive 50 cents! Half of all charges, is for “Bullsh*t, Gold and titanium, jewel encrusted Network poles & wires” or otherwise deviant spooning, brassy polished, probing A/C copper, bum buddy networking extorted profits! Surely, most of the excessive cost for new area poles & cable infrastructure should be appropriately borne by new power users & developers! And the obsolescence & replacement component should continue at the prior much lower, previously adequate rate it’s always been? Given the 70% profit increase has been quietly herded into the jolly premier’s state coffers since labour was elected. They’ve continued sucker maintaining their excessively wasteful ways, despite GST funding Drop off! So premiers should pull their heads in and come clean on their profit bleed from the system & not try fooling the public. Cause it merely further pits their standing & credibility and confirms the burdensome uselessness and waste of redundant state governments! And why, the sooner they’re constitutionally abolished, the sooner we’ll rid another mob of fat monkeys off our backs and start getting sensible, broader price relief! Morally, despite Clayton State need, conniving premiers should finally stop deceitfully concealing their languishing customer’s gross creaming and punishment. Notably! What astounds most, is that they’ve dopily let vital control and pricing fall into the hands “privateers”, without belated proper necessary “framework…, that requires fair contracts and better information in bills” and in particular. Competently accurate and transparent fair pricing formulas, inputs, checks & balances, to ensure we’re not repeatedly shafted & rorted! Final Customer cost should not be much more than double the power generating cost!: Just over half of what were paying, plus the 7.6 % pre-compensated carbon tax. Ie. Less than 70% of current pricing! So Julia, why wait? Fix the rip-offs Now! Cause you might not be in a penance posit
