10/08/2012 - Following FLSmidth's successful acquisition of the Australian company Ludowici, the two companies are now joining forces to offer customers worldwide state-of-the-art products, solutions and services.
Both companies have a long proud history of technological leadership — where innovation, creative thinking and close customer relationships have been and still are essential cornerstones. Joining forces, the two companies are now ready to take a united leap into the future as One Source.
With Ludowici on board FLSmidth has taken one step further in the execution of its global growth strategy which was announced in February 2012.
Acquiring Ludowici has enabled FLSmidth to substantially strengthen its flow sheet within coal; one of six strategic focus industries within which the company strives to become the customers' preferred full service provider of sustainable cement and minerals technologies.
Ludowici's products and technologies will furthermore enhance FLSmidth's offer-ings within copper and iron ore — two other strategic focus industries for the company.
With 65 per cent of Ludowici's turnover in Australia, the acquisition will significantly expand FLSmidth's presence in this important mining region.
In addition, the acquisition will support FLSmidth's aspiration to expand its customer services offerings as approximately 60 per cent of Ludowici's turnover relates to Customer Services activities, including spare parts and consumables. Last but not least FLSmidth will get a highly capable pool of extremely skilled employees on board.
But the strategic fit goes both ways. With more than 13,000 employees in more than 50 countries and over 130 years of experience as one of the world's leading suppliers of products, services and solutions to the global cement and minerals industries, FLSmidth brings a global organisation and distribution network to the table.
The combined financial, technological and commercial capabilities will offer customers global access to a large portfolio of products and a combination of engineering resources and technologies to solve their application needs and develop new products and services also in the future.
Complimenting each other, the joining of the two companies can therefore be said to truly be a perfect match.
