Plumbers, IT workers' tax returns scrutinised by the ATO
27/07/2012 - The tax returns of IT managers, plumbers and defence force non-commissioned officers will be looked at closely as the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) targets these occupations for extra scrutiny.

The ATO says it is reviewing these occupations this year for any perceived irregularities that may trigger an audit or review of their tax return.
The ATO review may include targeting taxpayers whose claims have increased significantly in the past few years and requiring taxpayers to complete work-related expense information sheets when lodging their tax return.
Every year, the tax office selects some occupations it plans to target in relation to work related expenses claims.
