In the automotive manufacturing industry a high degree of automation exists to support JIT manufacturing and delivery of the right product, in the right quantity at the right time. Electronic trading via EDI or other messaging environments is the key to managing this process. Common to the automotive industry is the use of cumulative scheduling to manage the fulfilment of cumulative order releases against a master order.
Scalable has developed a cumulative scheduling module which integrates with the Scalable EDI module to manage the electronic receipt of release orders against deliveries to support correct visibility of the status of an order and manage the order release into the Microsoft Dynamics™ AX master planning module. Direct integration of release orders into forecasting is also supported.
The Automotive Component Manufacturing series consists of a number of separate modules. Cumulative Scheduling is used to manage sales planning as described above.
EDI is used throughout for efficient document processing. Vendor scheduling has a similar function to Cumulative Scheduling relating to the management of purchases.
Vendor Scheduling allows efficient management of production scheduling and purchasing by providing detailed planning schedules for each product and vendor.
Cascade Receiving saves time by allowing the processing of receipts of products and invoices without the need to match them with Purchase orders. Bar code management is used for several functions including picking, receiving and stock take.
