Axle weighbridges, also known as axle weighers, are ideal for small sites and for axle breakdowns of long vehicles.
Axle weighers are sometimes an economical alternative to full-length weighbridges. Because they are shorter in length (typically no longer than 4 metres), less concrete and steel is used to construct the weighbridge, making them generally cheaper.
When used with special axle weighing software (on a PC) or an axle weighing remote display, axle breakdowns can be viewed and recorded, as well as the vehicle's total gross weight.
The benefit to vehicle owners is obvious, with protection against axle overloading realistically saving drivers from fines and dangerous driving conditions. The benefit to site operators is the ability to optimise vehicle loads.
Axle weighers are also useul for quarrying operations. By installing an axle weigher near the point of loading, vehicle drivers can save time on site by ensuring optimum loads before leaving the point of loading for the quarry's weighbridge at the front gate.
QWM has its own fabrication workshop, meaning we fabricate the axle weighers in-house. This enables us to design and fabricate custom-sized axle weighbridges to suit any site and any size of vehicle (including mine site vehicles).
Axle weighers can also be relocated reasonably easily from site to site. This is of great benefit to sites that have a short life-span.
