Barcoding & Labelling Robots

Foodmach - BARCODING and labelling of cartons and pallets can now be handed over to robots so sensitive that they will even locate a pallet strap and place a label there to avoid marking products.

Imported from England by Foodmach Australia, the new Labfax range is said to meet the highest scanning standards of retail chains.

Labels can carry a wide range of data along with the barcode including date, shift, batch, product identity and graphics such as logos.

Label printers are easily programmed via PC or may stand alone, using smart cards for product changes.

Almost human in their dexterity and versatility, the robots can save large sums by doing away with handling components such as rotation conveyors.

For example, the Labfax Bifecta applies a label to the top or any side of a pallet without requiring rotation. For cartons, the Acrobat model applies labels as they pass at high speed.

Again, rotation is unneccesary, a big saving in equipment, space and maintenance. Other models include a ‘blow-on’ applicator which gently labels even fragile or soft product.
