ProductCard Handling Unit
Australis Engineering - Australis Engineering has recently developed a card handling unit to test and activate proximity security cards. These cards are increasingly being used for keyless entry to buildings and other secure locations and are significantly growing in popularity all over the world.A testing unit for these cards was required and the first prototype was developed (show above) to handle 2 different card sizes and a key-ring tag. The unit is fully automated with collating of activated cards and a reject facility for inactive cards. The unit also integrates an inkjet coder that can print an alpha-numeric code onto the activated cards. Being around 1500mm long (excluding the printer and operating computer) the unit can be desk mounted (as above) or leg mounted if the client required a free standing unit. This convenient size means the unit can be used in an office situation without having a huge piece of equipment taking up valuable office real estate. The benefits of the unit are increased speed in activation and a much less labour intensive activation process. The capability to load the cards and walk away while the unit automatically completes the activation process is the key benefit of the unit. Australis Engineering also believes the unit can be adapted for smart card and magnetic strip card technology and is willing to develop a range of these systems for the security market.
