Siemens Ltd. - SCALANCE is a new Industrial Ethernet networking components family from SIMATIC NET. The family is divided into sub-families, SCALANCE X – switches, SCALANCE W- wireless and SCALANCE S – security.

Industrial Ethernet Switch: SCALANCE X

The SCALANCE X line is comprised of 3 performance classes.

X-100 in the plant floor unmanaged switch class
X-200 in the plant floor managed switch class
X-400 in the industrial enterprise class.

SCALANCE X108: Easy installation

The SCALANCE X-108 has a new Innovative and space-saving housing concept. It fits ideally into all Industrial automation solutions and can be mounted onto 35 mm DIN rail, S7-300 rail and direct wall mounting.

SCALANCE X108: Availability and diagnostics

SCALANCE X-100 switches have redundant voltage supply (DC) connections. Fault conditions can be signalled to the controller (e.g. PLC) via a signal contact (S). LEDs permit fast on-site diagnostics of power supply, port status and data communication.

Wireless Communication: SCALANCE W

The SCALANCE W line is made up of the following Industrial Wireless LAN components:

Access Points : Single (W788-1PRO) and Dual (W788-2PRO).
Client modules : PC card (CP7515) and generic client module (W744-1PRO)
Accessories : Antennas & Power Supplies.

SCALANCE W788-1PRO Single Access Point

The SCALANCE W788-1PRO Access Point enables the establishment of very reliable wireless networks with approval in the license-free ISM bands at 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz. The device supports IWLAN which is an extension of the IEEE 802.11a/b/g standards with up to 54 Mbit/s (in Turbo Mode up to 108 Mbit/s).

Time and cost savings with FastConnect

The FastConnect (FC) quick-installation system for Industrial Ethernet assists the configuration of industry-compatible network structures within the shortest possible time. FastConnect is very easy to use and the connector on the respective SCALANCE X-100 product ensures rugged and reliable data communication.

FastConnect has now been further expanded to also include RJ45 plugs, allowing direct connection of IE cable to switches and terminal devices that do not have integrated FC ports and without the need for patch cables with the IE FastConnect RJ45 outlet.
