QWM Pty Ltd -
Weighbridge Driver Data Entry Stations, also known as Driver Control Stations and commonly abbreviated to DCS, are data entry stations that weighbridge vehicle drivers can use to enter useful information about their vehicle and the load they are carrying.
The Driver Control Station (DCS) displays prompts to the vehicle driver, requesting information, such as vehicle ID (or registration number), material being carted, and client the material is being carted for. Additional systems, such as electronic identification systems, can be used to automate the vehicle identification stage and also eliminate fraud.
QWM manufactures two types of Driver Control Stations. One is an alpha-numeric keyboard with a dot matrix, liquid crystal display. We call this type the DCS2. The second type uses an industrial touch-screen PC which incorporates the on-screen keyboard, the monitor, and the software package in a complete unit. We call this type the DCS4.
The operation and functionality of the DCS is completely reliant on a software package. QWM has a number of off-the-shelf DCS software packages, and can ofcourse also provide custom functionality software packages to meet your site's requirements.
DCS2
The Model DCS2 is an alphanumeric data entry station suitable for use by vehicle and system operators. The DCS2 is connected to a remote PC, typically an office PC, to transfer information to and from the operator. Information, such as vehicle registration number, product type, and destination is requested from the operator, via a display. The operator can then enter the required information using the keyboard.
The remote PC processes this information and generates transactions, reports, and even a printed docket for the operator, if desired. All the while, the operator is kept informed of the progress via the displayed messages. System options can include:
- External docket print-out for the driver
- Tag Reader and ID Tags to automate vehicle recognition (saves the driver entering vehicle ID and eliminates erroneous entries)
- Weighbridge operation controlled from a single, remote location (for example, a Front End Loader operator, a plant manager, etc.) using a Personal Digital Assistant
- Fully automated operation for unmanned Weighbridges (includes anti-fraud features)
- Remote Weighbridge location connection using a Radio Modem
Touch screen options for vehicle operators
The Remote PC, typically an office PC, may store all the vehicle, product, delivery destination, and billing information as a database. The vehicle operator need only enter one- or two-digit codes using the Driver Control Station (DCS), and the DCS can access the database and display the appropriate description that corresponds to the code.
The Remote PC is installed with a software package to create and manage the database, and to manage information supplied by a vehicle operator. Reports and printed dockets can be generated as a result of interaction with a vehicle operator.
SOFTWARE REPORTING FEATURES of Weighbridge Driver Control Stations
- Can be generated manually or automatically at predefined intervals (daily, weekly, monthly, etc.)
- Can be sent to an e-mail address
- Can be sent to a data storage device (floppy disk, ZIP disk, CD-R)
- Can be sent to an accounting software package
- Can be sent to an Excel (or other) spreadsheet
- Can be sent via a PC Network
DCS4
The Model DCS4 is essentially an industrial, touch-screen PC, typically mounted in a rugged industrial enclosure. Unlike the DCS2, the DCS4 can be used as a stand-alone product, with all the information such as vehicle registration numbers, product types, and destinations, stored in databases within the DCS4. That means - no remote PC required. The DCS4 can be networked to a remote PC, if required, for the purpose of exchanging transaction and report data.
- Network connection using a phone line or a Radio Modem
- Operation can be monitored using a video display unit
