The wheelchair weigher is a low profile platform scale pecifically manufactured to accommodate the size of a wheelchair. It may be fitted with an entry ramp for easier access to the weighing area, though because the platform is a low profile platform scale, the weighing area is relatively close to the ground at about 50 to 60mm from ground level.
A digital weight display is used to display the weight of the patient to the operator. The indicator is usually fitted to two or three metres of cable from the weighing area, enabling it to be mounted near the weigher on a wall, post or desk.
