Recall issued for smoked salmon dip on 'labelling error'

24/07/2012 - A smoked salmon dip is being recalled because of a labelling error that could lead people with egg allergies to unwittingly eat the allergen.

Quality Food World is recalling all Olive Branch Smoked Salmon Dairy Free dip or spread in 200g tubs labelled best before November 1, 2012.

The company says in a statement the spread or dip contains egg-based mayonnaise, but egg was omitted from the list of ingredients on the label.

"Any consumers who have an egg allergy or intolerance may have a reaction if the food is consumed," the company says.

Customers should return the dip or spread for a full refund, Quality Food World says.

The product has been on sale in IGA, Harris Farm and other independent supermarkets, including fresh food grocers in NSW, Queensland, Victoria and South Australia.

Quality Food World is taking calls on the product at 1300 765 459.
