Release of Ametek Rotron Brushless DC Motors

AMETEK Technical & Industrial Products says its Rotron brushless DC motors have been specially engineered for applications onboard heavy-duty transportation vehicles.

According to AMETEK, the motors are available in 47 and 64 standard frame sizes and use electronic communication which will outlive conventional brush commutated motor products prone to failure from brush wear.

AMETEK says applications for the motors include fans, blowers, pumps and compressors from 0.5HP to 2.25HP, depending on the model.

The company claims both motor types integrate rare earth magnets for high torque/weight ratio, accept a wide range of voltage inputs and offer protections against reverse polarity and voltage surges.

The 47 Frame motor series incorporate integral electronics enabling simple 2 wire DC operation. They can't achieve continuous torque up to 50oz-in and speeds up to 4,425RPM with optional accelerated speed capabilities up to 10,000RPM.

The 64 Frame motor series achieve continuous torque up to 800oz-in and speeds up to 3,900RPM. The motors are sealed with O-rings as standard. Drop-in replacement motor designs can be developed for existing brush motors to accommodate OEM or retrofit applications.
