Big W said on Thursday it was recalling Abode-branded electric blankets sold at its stores since March 2011.
The control cord between the blanket and charger could short circuit or overheat, it said in a statement.
While Big W had not received any reports of injuries, the product presented a potential fire hazard and was being recalled as a precaution.
Customers were urged to stop using the blankets immediately.
Only certain batches were a potential fire risk, but Big W said it would fully refund the price of any Abode-branded electric blanket sold at its stores since March last year to ensure all hazardous products were returned.
No other Abode-branded products were affected by the recall, BIG W said.
