Stainless steel wire braid on the hose assembly (SS1) provides the hose with higher internal pressure capability by acting as a restraint against hose elongation and acts to dampen vibration without significant loss of flexibility. A second layer of braid (SS2) may be used to increase pressure rating provided the test pressure is not exceeded which can result in permanent corrugation deformation.

Protecting the Stainless steel hose from unusual external abuse you can use different armours and covers such as stainless steel interlock cover, heat shrink covers, lay-flat, scuff guarding, fire sleeve, fibre glass tape wrapped cover, PVC cover, rubber and also wire spring-guard.  

Stainless steel Interlock hose is made from a casing that is helically wound preformed metal strip into a fully interlocked profile. The flats are formed by a polygonal mandrel, which gives the hose anti-torsion properties. Interlock will not unwind when cut because of the flats built into the wall. Some common uses for Interlock hose is for:

Differentiating Features of Stainless Steel Hose and Interlock: 
Annular hose is formed from tubing into individual parallel corrugations. The corrugations are perpendicular with the centre line of the hose giving them independent movement from each other. Corrugated metal hose is normally manufactured in standard pitch (closed pitch). When needing greater flexibility Omega hose is ideal. It has a higher flexing cycle life because of the increase in the number of convolutions per foot without thinning the wall of the hose.
