10/09/2012 - The future of steel manufacturing in Australia will come under the spotlight in Canberra next week.

Industry Minister Greg Combet will open the Australian Steel Convention on Monday.

About 200 people will attend the convention at the Hyatt Hotel in Canberra.

Combet will outline the federal government's manufacturing and innovation policies and the impact they will have on the industry.

The opposition will also outline their manufacturing policies on Tuesday with an address from shadow treasurer Joe Hockey and a video address from opposition industry spokeswoman Sophie Mirabella, who is recovering from a knee reconstruction.
