Storage for Kangan's new automotive centre of excellence

Boscotek was selected to supply all thirteen workshops, spanning two levels with a complete workshop solution.

Boscotek was the proud supplier of industrial workshop storage and workbenches to Kangan Institute's new Automotive Centre of Excellence (ACE), located at Melbourne's Docklands.

The ACE is positioned to become the largest and most advanced automotive training facility in the southern hemisphere. These specialist training facilities will provide students with a hands-on training environment.  

The ACE will be a focal point of the Victorian automotive industry, bringing together automotive training, research and development, in one precinct. Along with strengthening the links between the automotive industry and tertiary education sector, the ACE will become a key player in the rapidly developing field of automotive technology, involved in new research and application of improved fuels, engines and automotive design.

The building has been uniquely designed to enable group programmes such as heavy and light vehicle, marine, outdoor power equipment and auto electrical to be delivered from the state-of-the-art, 5 star energy rated facility.     

Boscotek's industrial storage products are featured in all thirteen open-plan educational workshop sectors, spanning 2 levels. Scores of heavy duty workbenches offer durable work surfaces for students to carry out their training tasks and include galvanised and stainless steel bench tops with a wet edge to retain fluids.

Flight Line cabinets were installed to improve storage flexibility and access of tools and equipment with the additional security benefit of knowing what tools are in use and what needs to be replaced. This is especially beneficial with areas with high tool usage.

A-Frame Perforated Panel Trolleys were selected as a lighter mobile storage solution for tools and equipment. These A-Frame Trolleys reduce excessive movement and time to locate and access tools.

New Lock and Twist Tool Hooks were used extensively throughout the facility to hang and store equipment on all Boscotek Perforated Panels. These innovative tool hooks have many advantages over similar products with their flexible design and lock feature, which means they don't need to be accessed from the rear to reposition them, yet remain locked in position and can be relocated in seconds.

Boscotek High Density Storage Cabinets were arranged in multiple configurations to form various workstations for students across each workshop. Offering flexible combinations of drawer storage, cupboards and open shelving for tools and spare parts, each workstation was completed with a robust bench top from either 40mm thick solid oak, stainless or galvanised steel. Custom perforated cupboard doors were also used for ventilated storage of computer

Boscotek's 120mm Heuer Bench Vice was selected as the preferred product for many of the workstations. Made in Germany from drop forged steel, each vice was mounted front and rear allowing easy access from both sides.

Lecture rooms were also equipped with a range of Bosco Office Tambour Door Cabinets, keeping aisle ways free with smoothly receding doors and adjustable shelving. Powder coated in white, these cabinets offer contemporary styling.
