Sumitomo finalises Hansen industrial gear division buy

Hansen Transmissions Pty Ltd and SM Cyclo Australia Pty Ltd will continue trading under their respective and registered names and the combination of the two brands will collectively provide their clients with sales, technical support, assembly, service and repair capabilities.

There will be divisions in NSW, QLD, VIC and WA and a distributor network throughout Australia and New Zealand.

The Industrial Gearbox Division - Hansen Transmissions with its headquarters in Rowville, Victoria, will assemble and market the Hansen (P4), Paramax (PX9) and Seisa gear products. The company will continue to design and manufacture complete drive packages for its mining and related industries locally.

Steve Wightman has been appointed to the role of managing director for Hansen Transmissions Pty Ltd for Australian Operations.

Wightman has extensive knowledge and experience in the mining industry and has spent the last 25 years involved in the supply of capital equipment to major OEMs, project houses and many other users alike.

The Gear Motor Division - SM-Cyclo (Australia), with its headquarters in Arndell Park, New South Wales, will assemble and market the Cyclo, Buddy Box, HSM, Hyponic and precision Cyclo units.

Robert Proietti has been appointed as managing director of SM Cyclo and will be replacing Steve Wightman in this role who he has worked alongside for the past five years.

Both Wightman and Proietti will commence their tenures on the 1st June 2012.
