 ACME thread wear gauges from RMS
Wear gauges, with a 0.020" allowance for wear, are now available for checking ACME fittings. With constant use the thread can wear on both the male and female ends. With steel fittings the plating can wear away allowing corrosion which accelerates the problem. Regularly using wear gauges will ensure the fittings can be changed before the chance of accidental disconnection due to excess wear.
