Systems Success: Datamax Powers on at the Better Blend Stockfeeds Site
06/10/2008 - insignia is proud of the achievement of this particular Datamax W-Class printer, which started its career with A & B Grains/Better Blend Group in 2000. Over the last eight years, this printer has consistently printed enough labels to go around the earth more than three times! That’s right, 4,291,483,145 inches of labels.
Nigel Hammond, Quality Assurance Manager for the A & B Grains/Better Blend Group commented:
“The Company is really satisfied with this printer. It has been with the company for eight years and as the company has grown, the Datamax W-Class has kept pace with the demand. You can’t ask more than that.
In our business if there are no labels, there is no turnover, so regularly servicing our equipment avoids breakdowns”.
According to Dennis Jones, one of the Service Technicians at insignia, A & B Grains/Better Blend Group has done everything right. Originally housed in the dusty environment of the production floor, the printer was moved to a cupboard with dust extractors. It has recently been upgraded to its own air-conditioned room, still powering through the labels.
“‘In our terms, this printer is working in high volume capacity and regular servicing is essential. To prolong the life of any label printer, it is always best practice to spend in advance to avoid unnecessary breakdowns, which A & B Grains/Better Blend Group has always been happy to do”, says Dennis.
The production of stockfeed, agricultural commodities and birdseed operates 24/7 at the Better Blend Stockfeeds site. With label sizes from 12cm to over 30cm and the label stock with a rough fibrous surface (to remain resistant to tearing and adverse weather conditions) this Datamax W-Class has met all its challenges, consistently printing clear, readable labels.
As Australia’s certified Datamax supplier, insignia believe Datamax has world-leader status in the thermal label industry. Their printers have an all-metal chassis and a heavy-duty metal exterior. They are cog-driven, not belt driven and that means longer-wearing parts and consistently high performance. These printers are a cost effective addition to any production floor.
