Two Heavy Duty Weighbridges for VIC Construction Materials Supplier

22/08/2011 - Two heavy duty weighbridges are being used for weighing trucks carrying construction materials at Aurora Construction’s Epping site in Melbourne’s North. Gary Bryant
Manufactured and supplied by Ultrahawke in Campbellfield, the heavy duty weighbridges are fitted with robust concrete weighing decks to cope with the high traffic volumes of heavily laden vehicles accessing the facility. A Driver Control Station (DCS) was fitted to each weighbridge to eliminate the need for full time weighbridge operators to perform weighing duties.
Ultrahawke’s Driver Control Stations are designed for easy operation with the drivers stepped through a series of prompts to make selections from pre-loaded data to minimise data entry errors. All data entry is performed using a full colour touch screen to eliminate potential for keyboard problems due to dust/water entry.
Although the Driver Control Stations are fully sealed, these units were also mounted inside custom stainless steel shelters for extra protection against the elements and to eliminate glare affecting the screens visibility. Both driver control stations are networked back to the client’s SAP system to enable all data to be shared with other applications.
To comply with OH&S requirements, driver access platforms and stairs were fitted for driver safety when alighting and entering their trucks. All steel used in the weighbridges and driver access platform is fully galvanised for strong resistance to corrosion.
To ensure easy access by long truck/trailers, the 28 metre long weighbridges were manufactured with deck widths of 3.5 metres.
