An access control system refers to the devices used in residential, commercial or industrial premises to restrict access. Access control equipment suppliers offer a wide range of access control devices suitable for different security needs, including electronic keys, keypad access control systems, card access control systems and intercoms.
Electronic keys provide more advanced access control as each electronic key can be programmed to specify the holder’s access authority.
A keypad access control system uses a wired or wireless keypad controller to unlock an electronically controlled door or barrier. Advanced keypad access control systems can record and report access time, personnel who made the access, and unsuccessful access attempts. Other features include multiple users and automatic re-lock.
A card access control system uses access card readers and access cards to control automatic doors or gates. Advanced card access systems allow for programming, updating and reporting.
An audio or video intercom access control system uses a system of speakers, microphones, cameras (for video intercoms) and a door controller to allow visitors to communicate with building occupants to request for and obtain access approval.
