Type 8345, which is mainly used in transportation, telecommunications, marine industry and solar technology, may be remotely switched on or off with this new modules and may thus also be used as a battery isolation system.
The remote control module X8345-R provides ease of maintenance, testing and remote diagnostics as the circuit breakers may then be operated either via an external toggle or via two momentary switches. This is of importance as soon as the circuit breakers are difficult to access, or when the protective element is at a distance from the control panel or when access is difficult because of a weak infrastructure or long distances. Operation via internet is also possible.
Another possible application of the module is the use as battery isolation system – either to spare battery power during lengthy lay days or to avoid fire hazard with tractors or harvesters.
When designing the module X8345-R it was observed that the position of the actuator of the circuit breaker corresponds to the actual operating status, i.e. if the units was switched off by remote control, the actuator on the breaker has to follow suit and change over into the OFF position. This is an important feature when it comes to reliable operation through the personnel on site.
The module has a weight of only 65 g, works with a control current of less than 3 mA and executes the switching operation in less than two seconds practically in real-time. It controls a circuit breaker type 8345 protecting up to 125 A, as a multipole paralleled version even up to 450A.
The remote ON/OFF module X8345-R is – just like the temperature-compensated circuit breaker type 8345 – suitable for extreme ambient temperatures. It works in a temperature range of -40° and +85° C. Conclusion: the entire concept of the product group 8345 helps to make vehicles or plants more efficient, safer and more cost-effective.
